It can be observed that people nowadays invite a larger number of guests to marriage parties, and spend a huge amount of money. In this essay, I will discuss various causes behind this tendency, as well as some arguments why I consider it a negative trend.

To begin with, there are several reasons why wedding parties are bigger and more expensive these days. Firstly, marriages are extravagant due to the show-off tendency of people. To elaborate, families who are wealthy, spend huge amounts of funds in marriages to show their richness, and status in society. There is a growing pressure among families to show off their prosperity, and compete with each other in nuptial organizations. Secondly, parents wish to give their best to their children. To express love and care towards their off-springs, parents give several gifts to their children and always try to fulfill their demands. In the same manner, they want to organize a wonderful marriage function as a gift to their children. 

However, this is clearly a negative trend as it includes wastage of money and food on large scale. The primary reason behind this notion is that these excess spendings do not benefit anyone. A lot of money is spent on decorations and clothes, but most of the relatives try to find flaws rather than appreciating the concerned families. Therefore, this money should be utilized by donating it to charitable societies, so that they can help someone who really needs it. Another reason is that some families spend more than their capability. The tendency of imitating others put them in debt, and they spend their almost life repaying those loans. Hence, enjoyment of a single day becomes a burden for whole life. Rather, a simple arrangement can be done with the available budgets. 

In conclusion, it is no denying that marriages are more expensive and expanded nowadays. This is due to the showing-off tendency of people, and due to affection of parents. However, this is unfair in my opinion, because this is no more than wastage of money and food, and put tremendous financial pressure on families.
