(7.0 BAND SAMPLE ANSWER)

An increasing number of adverts can be seen everywhere nowadays, and they attempt to allure kids to buy some eatables, playing equipments, and many other things. It is claimed by parents that these promotions are not appropriate. Although I also consider that these advertisements are not advantageous for children, this is not the case always.

To begin with, there are several reasons why I support the given notion. The first and foremost reason is that the products which are promoted in the advertisements are not good for children’s health, and distract them from their studies. To elaborate, young children lack the ability to make wise decisions, and when they see the colorful pictures or animations in the advertisement, they pressurize their parents to buy those things. For instance, the advertisements of fast food items, such as Pizza, Burger etcetera are particularly bad for children. Children cannot understand the difference between healthy food and non-hygienic food. They eat junk foods, which have detrimental effect on their physical growth. Also, they spend a significant time on playing with toys, and resist to do studies, which is not good for their intellectual growth. Another reason is that it wastes a lot of money. All parents are not so wealthy that they can provide expensive toys or other products to their kids, and things for which they coerce their parents, are not always useful for them. Therefore, advertisements create unnecessary financial burden on the parents. This is how, it can be said that such promotions are unfair.

Nevertheless, there are many advertisements which are really fruitful for children. Firstly, some advertisements provide necessary information to the children. For example, the advert of Colgate toothpaste, which tells us to brush our teeth twice daily, is good for children. Also, there are some ads about learning applications, which help children to improve their academic score and learn their subjects with better illustrations. Therefore, such adverts are useful for better health and education of the kids. Secondly, some advertisements also highlight the importance of saving water and electricity, keeping our surroundings clean and planting trees. Children are motivated by these ads, and if they follow such kinds of ads, they become responsible in their life.

In conclusion, I reiterate my viewpoint by saying that advertisements which encourage children toward bad activities, such as eating unhealthy food, wasting their time, and creating unnecessary burden on their parents, are not appropriate. However, some ads are really helpful for children’s overall development. Promotion of products, like Colgate, Born-Vita which are beneficial for their health, and awareness campaigns, such as saving water, electricity, and keeping the environment clean are appropriate for kids.
